Great question. While several of the apps, including urTalker, have some more child like categories they also have general use categories that work for any age group. We also see users create more adult or environment specific categories and images to be more relevant for that specific demographic.

Hi I work in a residential home for 36 physically disabled adults and would like to try and help some of the non verbal communicators use an iPad with an appropriate app. I do not want to offend them by pitching something that is too obviously ‘childish’. Any ideas ?

Hi. I’m interested in the Communication app. I have an autstic son who has a Speech Delay. He is very interested in Computer this is why we bought an iPad two months ago. We are Looking for Apps that help ihm to Communicate.
Please let me know if the offer of an Free app still exists.

My god mother also suffered a stroke in December 2012. We’ve noticed she’s been trying to communicate with us but its been hard with a white board. I downloaded Grid Player on my ipad and I’m pretty impressed of the app. I hope this way can be easier for her to communicate what she needs and feels. Hope it helps. Best of luck.

I would love to also hear the views of people that havr used these apps. My dad had a stroke early last year. It his 50th this weekend and the family is looking at possibly purhasing one for him. As the stroke has left him unable to communicate. We want to help him in anyway we can

Christine… My heart goes out to you and your family on the unfortunate health of your Mother in Law. I am the same person that asked about the merit of some apps on the IPAD on behalf of my father.

Unfortunately, we haven’t gotten any good or bad reviews of these communications products and have decided to delay purchasing an IPAD or any of these apps until we get some reviews.
